At The Edit Lab, we believe everyone has a story worth remembering. Our flagship service, Docu-Memories, is a documentary-style oral history project designed to capture the voices, images, and personalities of people before their stories are lost.  From childhood mischief to hard won wisdom, the tales of our loved ones are family heirlooms that deserve to be preserved and retold for generations.

The Problem

Millions of stories vanish every year because they aren’t recorded. Veterans pass away with their service memories untold. Families lose the chance to hear their loved ones’ voices again. Communities lose powerful histories that could inspire the future.

There is a critical gap between everyday people who want to preserve stories and the high cost or complexity of documentary production.

Recording long interviews on your phone isn't ideal due to technical hiccups (battery drain, storage), quality issues (poor mic/stability), privacy/consent concerns(data security), and professionalism (calls, notifications and other app functions can interrupt and damage the recording), as it signals potential disrespect for the interviewee's privacy, making them feel pressured or scrutinized rather than engaged in a natural conversation.
